     This is a kuzhal kolam.  This type of kolom is drawn with a ladle shaped  instrument called "Kuzhal."  It has 4 to 5 holes in it.  Kolam powder is filled in it and it flows through the holes to form patterns.  Big kolams can be drawn easily with the help of this instrument.
